"Hey Chicago, what do say?"
Dave here for a fun Friday post about towels and so much more. Baseball is much more than an average sport. It's like they call it, "a past time." You past your sping and summer days with 162 games. You have it on the radio, TV or now a phone keeping you up to date even if it's in the background. You know the names of the starters better than you know the names of your 1st and 2nd cousins. Yep that's been me for major parts of my life, so when I saw this great looking stack of rally towels, I got goosebumps.
I've been a fan since I would pass summer days away listening to the likes of Banks, Santo, Jenkins, and Williams playing for the Cubs, of course while I practiced my swing. As I grew up my other passion for music took more of part of my life. Jimmie Buffet, Steve Goodman, Harry Chapin, Jim Croce, and Bob Dylan were just a few of my favorites. It didn't take long before I found out the tie between the two was Steve Goodman. He played and wrote under such a shadow of leukemia diagnosis and his "Dying Cubs Fan" song quickly became one of my all time favorites.
Just yesterday Sports Illustrated wrote a great recap of Steve and his Cub connection. I highly recommend you read it, CLICK HERE.
These towels & W towels are shipping out to retailers every where for October baseball. Grab up one, wave it around and remember Steve and all those passionate baseball fans & players that have gone before us.
And sorry for the Chicago bias, after 40 years it's hard not to bleed Cubbie blue.
