Spot Color Printing
Vector based art is art that is originally created in a vector based program such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. Many times AI files are often converted to EPS format or PDF format to make them more compatible for most users. These file formats are acceptable as long as they retain the original vector based capabilities. CorelDraw files can be converted to AI files.
All fonts must be converted to paths/outlines before sending.
Vectorized art is mathematically based, therefore it will not degradate when scaled up or down in size. This is important to ensure you get the desired print quality. Simply scanning art on a flatbed scanner and saving it as an AI, PDF, or EPS file will not work! Your artwork must have been originally created in a vector based program.
Pantone / TOYO are color coding systems that designate specific numbers to ensure consistent color output. This type of printing is often referred to as "spot color" printing. This is the most cost effective method of printing. All colors within the artwork must be assigned PMS (Pantone) or TOYO numbers. There is a limit of 8 colors, including black, to this type of printing.

4 Color Process Printing
4 color process printing uses the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) process for determining color mixtures. Although this process accepts more file formats, color can vary slightly. All artwork containing gradients will use 4 color process. Bitmap images can be printed in this process, but excessive scaling of size can cause the artwork to be pixelated and choppy. Files need to be saved and sent as close to actual printing size as possible.

Vector based artwork - Adobe Illustrator CS or earlier, EPS files, PDF files with Illustrator capabilities
Raster based artwork (bitmap files) - TIF files, JPEG files (High Res - 300dpi), and PSD

Embroidery
McArthur Towels will accept Tajima formats only. All tapes sent must include thread color sequence or color breakdown. Thread colors can be matched to PMS colors if needed. For quotes on stitch counts, send fax to 608-356-7587 or call customer service at 800-356-9168.

Art Charges
Full design services are available in our art department for a fee of $35.00 per hour. A minimum charge of 1 hour will be assessed for all re-creation of bitmapped artwork that is too small or not usable for printing. Typesetting quoted per line: $15.00(net) minimum.
