The history of McArthur Towel & Sports dates back to 1885 when the company first began manufacturing signature athletic towels for schools and health clubs across the country. In 1972, the family-owned and operated business in Baraboo, Wisconsin shifted strategies, maturing from a sole manufacturing effort to a full-fledged wholesale, distribution and marketing operation.

In 1983, McArthur discovered a new niche in the licensed product market and quickly expanded its licensor base and merchandise to include a full golf and gift line. The partnership with licensed sports encouraged a new realm of growth potential for the company, and it wasn’t long before McArthur’s towels were spotted at almost every nationally televised sporting event.

McArthur designs and distributes products under licenses with professional teams in the National Football League, Major League Baseball, National Collegiate Athletic Association, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League and USA Hockey.

Great, Great Great Grandfather McArthur’s dream of owning a small textile business prompted McArthur Towel & Sports to become the leading manufacturer of licensed terry products.
